Surrounded by the love of his family and friends, Gary George Horn passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Orange Park, Florida, at the age of 74. His life was a quiet testament to strength, love, and devotion — a steady presence whose impact will be felt for generations.
Born on May 29, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late George and Shirley Horn, Gary proudly served in the U.S. Naval Reserves and later retired from NAS Jacksonville as an electronics mechanic with the Department of Defense. He was a man who loved simplicity — tinkering in the garage, watching birds and butterflies, and enjoying the hum of a motorcycle or the engine of a classic car.
Known for being a little stubborn but endlessly generous, Gary led with patience, wisdom, and deep love for his family. He is survived by his life partner Patty, his daughters Wendy (Scott) and Andrea (Chad); sister Glenda (Michael); grandchildren Anna, Tyler, Ethan, and Kieran; and great-grandchildren Kinsley and Xander. He was preceded in death by his grandchild Ryn, brother Randy, and sister-in-law Linda.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, Florida 32068.
"A man who is the backbone of his family is never truly gone; his strength lives on in the hearts he helped build."
