Harold Rea Agles, known as Harry to his family and friends, passed away at Haven Hospice of Orange Park, Florida on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the age of 92. Harry was born on April 26, 1929 in Lebanon, Illinois to Harold and Melva Rea Agles. Harry proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy. He was a retired Master Chief Petty Officer who served with the SeaBees, and was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Harry later worked in Civil Service at NAS Jacksonville. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Harry will be deeply and sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Melva Agles; his first wife, Betty Faye Agles; one son, Donald Agles; and one great-grandson, Talon Carter. He is survived by his second wife of 18 years, Gloria M. Agles; daughter, Melinda Carter (Charlotte); step-children Stephen Hendrix (Jane), Randall Hendrix (Robyn), and Nancy Hendrix Lockerman; grandchildren Joshua Carter (Amber), Jerrod Carter (Diane), Jodi McKnight (Edrick), Stephen Hendrix, Jr., Michael Hendrix (Megan), Austin Hendrix, Jason Hendrix, Shelby Vopper (Glen, II), and Jacob Lockerman; and great-grandchildren Gavin Carter, Evan Carter, Kymbree Carter, Linnae Carter, Sophia Hendrix, Liam Hendrix, Jaxon Paredes, Glen Vopper, III, and Emma Vopper.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL 32068. The family will receive friends one hour prior beginning at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow the funeral services at Holly Hill Memorial Park with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
