

Jerry Lee Walden Sr. (USN Ret.) passed away on August 12th, surrounded by his family. He was born in Wallins Creek, Kentucky on October 4 1939 to Emmit and Naomi (Saylor) Walden. He was the second of three children. Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan Fay (Horn) Walden, his older brother Sydney and younger sister Zola. Jerry was a proud veteran and served 22 years in the United States Navy, retiring in 1979 while stationed at NAS Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He also worked in construction management and managed several automobile dealerships, where his people skills helped him make them successful. Jerry made a lot of friends in his lifetime and maintained contact with many.
In his retirement Jerry enjoyed traveling with his wife and making new friends in their various destinations. He leaves behind his three Children: Jerry Lee Walden Jr. (Jerri Lynn Johnson), Sean Walden (Holly Walden), and Zola Foret (David Foret), Seven grand-children: Jerry Lee Walden III (Teechee Walden), Erik Walden (Cheryl Walden), Keri Boehm (Charlie Boehm), John Walden, Clayton Flowers, Ethan Walden, and Hailey Foret, And three great-grandchildren: Gage Walden, Raelynn Walden, and Eli Boehm. And close family members, Terry Niswonger, Brian Wolf, John Horn Jr. (Norma Horn), Charles Vavrek and Codie Johnson. In lieu of flowers please donate to Haven Hospice of Orange Park. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home located at 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL 32068. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, that will begin at 12:00 pm. Burial will be Wednesday, August 20, 2025, 2:30 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery located at 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
