John Furman Rogers III

Although born in the town of Madison, NC, Jack was primarily raised in Wilmington, NC with his younger brother Ken where they enjoyed playing ball and even ran a paper route together. He loved race cars, and Ken remembers Jack’s excitement over participating in races at a local dirt track. In his college years he attended the University of North Carolina for a time before starting a family of his own and moving them to Jacksonville, FL. It was here that Jack finally found his niche with a business of his own which he originated and operated successfully for over 30 years. He loved to fish, and later settled on a waterfront property in Bostwick, FL where he could often be found enjoying his leisure time on his pontoon boat. Jack had a penchant for engaging in lively discussion and possessed a savvy in dealing with people that just seemed to come naturally to him. He was a hard worker and will be fondly remembered for his charming wit and generosity.

Jack is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Ramona (Wynell) Rogers, and her children, Mike Ingram (Janet), Ramona Ingram Peterson (Larry), Judy Ingram Barkowskie (Carl), Derek Ingram (Annette); also Brad Rogers (Tina), of Patricia McCance Rogers, and her son Chet Bullard (Vivian); and David Rogers (Cher), Keith Rogers, Lori Rogers Linke (Chris), of Sondra Creech Rogers; and his brother Ken Rogers (Judy), and their children Julie Rogers Sox (Tim), Steve Rogers (Hope), Burt Rogers (Crystal); 19 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Furman Rogers II and Norma K. Rogers.

A memorial for Jack will be held at 11am, Monday, May 20, 2013 at Clay Hill Baptist Church, 6054 CR-218 W, Jacksonville (Middleburg area), FL 32234. Pastor Rick Crews will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jack Rogers to Northeast Florida Community Hospice, 4715 Worrall Way, Jacksonville, FL 32224 or Clay Hill Baptist Church at the above address. Graveside will follow at Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Rd, Middleburg FL 32068.
