John Leonard Towns

John Leonard Towns, age 89, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025. Born on April 2, 1936, in Jacksonville, Florida, John lived a life rooted in service, family, and quiet strength.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Donna Kay Towns; his children Dale Leonard Towns (Melinda), Hal Horton, and Cynthia Horton Thompson (Whitney); and his son-in-law Richard Johns. John leaves behind a rich legacy through his 14 grandchildren — Michael, Joshua, Crystal, Sarah, Lucy, Shelby, Cody, Travis, Tyler, Leann, Mike, Nicholas, Alicia, and Vinnie — and 18 great-grandchildren. His life was further enriched by a host of extended family and devoted friends who will forever cherish his memory.

John was preceded in death by his daughters, Dena Lynn Johns and Deann L. Turner; his parents, Wade Hamilton Towns and Helen Mary Towns; his brother, Royce Towns (Eva); and his sister, Betty Bernard (LeeRoy).

A proud graduate with a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree, John dedicated many years of his life to helping others as a licensed chiropractor. His commitment to healing and service made a lasting impact on the Middleburg community and beyond. Whether easing physical ailments or offering a kind word, John's presence was a steady source of comfort and care.

John loved the simplicity of life. He found joy in nature and treasured time spent with his family. A humble man at heart, he carried himself with quiet dignity, strong values, and an enduring love for those closest to him.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL 32068. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location.

John will be remembered as a man who lived simply, loved deeply, and served faithfully. His legacy of compassion, humility, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
