

Katherine was born on March 16, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Leon Lane and Dorothy Lane. As their only child, she shared a special and cherished bond with her parents. Katherine was raised in Jacksonville, where she built a beautiful life filled with love, family, friendship, and many treasured memories.
Katherine was a devoted wife and a loving mother whose family held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 16 years, Fred Stokes. Their marriage was filled with love, companionship, and shared moments that remained dear to her throughout her life.
Known for her outgoing personality and warm spirit, Katherine was truly a people person. She enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, sharing laughter, conversation, and good times. She loved playing cards, especially Bunco, and never missed an opportunity to dance. Line dancing was one of her favorite activities and brought her tremendous joy.
Katherine also loved spending time outdoors. Gardening and fishing were among her favorite pastimes, allowing her to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of nature. When relaxing at home, she could often be found watching her beloved western movies and television shows.
An enthusiastic football fan, Katherine proudly supported the University of Florida Gators and her hometown Jacksonville Jaguars. Her excitement for the game was infectious, and football season was always a special time for her.
Among Katherine’s most treasured memories was a mother-daughter cruise shared with her daughter, Adrianne. That special journey represented the beautiful bond they shared and remained one of the fondest memories of Katherine’s life.
Katherine leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted daughter, Adrianne Shepherd, and son-in-law, Darren Shepherd, along with a host of loving family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Stokes; her father, Leon Lane; and her mother, Dorothy Lane.
Katherine will be remembered for her loving heart, joyful spirit, beautiful smile, and genuine love for people. Her life was a blessing, her memory will forever be treasured, and the love she shared will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
