Kathryn was born on May 16, 1950, in St. Augustine, Florida, and made Middleburg her home over the last 37 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy was having her family together, all in one place. Family was the center of her life, and the moments spent surrounded by the people she loved were the ones she treasured most.
Kathryn shared her life with her beloved husband, Patrick T. Rainey, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life filled with family, memories, and adventures. One of the things they enjoyed together was being part of the motorcycle club, sharing the road, friendships, and experiences that came along with it.
Kathryn worked for Bellsouth for over 30 years before retiring. Outside of work, she found happiness in the simple things that made life beautiful. She loved tending to her garden and flowers and watching the butterflies, birds and wildlife that visited her yard.
Kathryn had a strong love for God and her faith, which was reflected throughout her life and her home. She attended First Church of God in Middleburg, where she enjoyed fellowship with her friends and spending time with her crochet group. Her home was filled with religious pieces that reflected her faith, and she enjoyed creating beautiful things with her hands. Among them was a needlepoint of The Last Supper, a special piece that combined her creativity with her love for God.
She was creative and loved crafting, especially crocheting and needlepoint. She lovingly made things for her family and friends, leaving behind pieces created by her own hands that will continue to be treasured by those who loved her.
Kathryn also loved to travel whenever she had the opportunity. She enjoyed seeing new places, making memories, and experiencing life with the people around her. Fittingly, one of her final adventures brought her to Spain, where she had traveled with friends and family.
She enjoyed watching western and mystery movies, and music from the 1960s. She loved the color blue, cherries, sunflowers, and creating things with her hands. These little pieces of Kathryn – along with the love she had for her family – will remain parts of the memories her family carries forward.
Kathryn is survived by her three children, Patrick Douglas Rainey and his wife, Diana Vivian Rainey, James Brian Rainey and his wife, Maria Teresa Chow Lacayo; and Melissa Marie Correia.
She also leaves behind her six beloved grandchildren, Katelyn Renee Rainey, daughter of Patrick Douglas Rainey; Ethan Patrick Russel Rainey, Kayden Gage Rainey, and Kaylee Ann Marie Rainey, children of James Brian Rainey; and Braden Marc Correia and Aubrey Marie Correia, children of Melissa Marie Correia. Each held a special place in Kathryn’s family and in her heart.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick T. Rainey; her parents, Fred Thomas Danahoo Sr., and Margarita Marie Wolf; and her siblings, Fred Thomas Danahoo Jr., Margaret Elinor Falana, Vincent Lawrence Danahoo, Michael George Danahoo Sr., John Calvin Danahoo, Daniel Henry Danahoo, Leonard Eugene Danhoo, and Marilyn Linda Harvey.
Kathryn will be remembered for her faith, the love she gave her family, the beautiful things she created with her hands, her appreciation for nature and life’s simple joys, her sense of adventure, and most of all, the happiness she found when everyone she loved was together. Her family will carry those memories with them always.
