Lawrence Richard (Ric) Rausch, age 73, passed away March 1, 2021 at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida. Ric was born on February 21, 1948 in Lake City, Florida. His father was in the Navy which allowed the family to live in Maryland, Cuba & Puerto Rico, and Jacksonville, where he met and married the love of his life & best friend. They enjoyed life together and traveled the US in their Modified 1956 Chevy for many years with their friends. His passion and hobbies were rebuilding & restoring classic Chevrolets. In 2014 his life changed when his daughter & son in law made him a grandfather to Noah and then 15 months later in 2015 his 2nd grandson was born, Levi. He loved his grandsons, who call him G-Pa, because he said he was just to cool to be called Grandpa. One of his friends said, Ric had a kind gentle nature and had wisdom both professionally and privately and never meant a stranger, he enjoyed and loved life.
Ric was a graduate of Robert E Lee High School 1966, Jacksonville University 1971, and Cumberland School of Law at Samford University 1974. He was a member of the Florida Bar Association 1977, North Florida Classics Chevy Club 1979, and over many years he was a member of several Civic & Charitable organizations. In 1975, Ric established his Law Practice as a sole practitioner in the Murray Hill Community on Edgewood South for 45 years and retired in May 2019. He served his community by practicing Probate, Guardianships, Family law and Elder Law.
Ric is predeceased by his parents Roy & Evelyn (Thorn) Rausch. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances (Stevens) Rausch of 52 years; daughter, Penelope Renee (Rausch) McRae; son in law James Warren McRae; two grandsons Noah James McRae and Levi William McRae; sister, Cynthia (Rausch) Hancock, (Ronald); brother Michael Rausch, (Beth); and many friends that also became his extended family over the years.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL 32068 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
