Louise Sherrill Vaughan passed away on October 4, 2026, at the age of 100. She was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, January 25, 1926. She graduated from high school as valedictorian, completing 12th grade even though an 11th grade education was all that was required at the time. Louise attended Women's College in Greenville, North Carolina for one semester before leaving school to work so her younger sister could attend college. During World War II, she went to the USO-sponsored dances and met Delbert Vaughan, who was stationed at Fort Bragg. They corresponded throughout the war, married when he returned and settled in his hometown of Miami, Florida.
Throughout her marriage, Louise devoted herself to raising their two daughters, staying active in her local church, pursuing her love of crafts and embroidery, and enjoying family camping trips. After Delbert's passing in 2009, she made her home with her oldest daughter and continued to cherish time with her grandson, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband Delbert Vaughan, Jr.. daughter Colleen Vaughan. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Nancy Schriefer, grandson Luke Edwards, his wife Jacquelin Edwards, and their children Tegan Edwards, Violet Edwards, Cooper Edwards, and Ashlind Starvaski and her husband Brandon Starvaski, and their children Brandon Starvaski, Jr. and Joseph Starvaski. Grandson Timothy Aldrich, his wife Margo, and their children; August, Calvin, Andrew and Sally and Grandson Robert Aldrich and granddaughter Candice Aldrich and children Ethan and Emily.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Middleburg, 2645 Blanding Blvd, Middleburg, FL 32068, on October 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at First Baptist Church of Middleburg, 2645 Blanding Blvd, Middleburg, FL 32068, on October 12, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
