July 9, 1946 – September 30, 2026
With deep sadness we share that Peggy/Mom/Grandma/Fay-Fay died Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after a long-fought hard battle with cancer and COPD, in Ascension St. Vincent's Clay County Hospital in Middleburg, Florida. She was 80 years old.
Peggy was born in Framingham, Massachusetts to Arlene Rilla (Gibson) and Charles Henry Connelley, Sr. The youngest, and only daughter, of four children, Peggy moved to Portsmouth, Virginia with her family when she was a very young girl. Peggy’s early years she spent in Portsmouth, VA where she had four children. Later she lived in various cities throughout Hampton Roads before a second marriage would take her to places around the country and the world. She enjoyed her travels and especially loved living in Japan. Upon returning to the US, and with her then husband’s retirement and their divorce, she found herself missing adventure and she set off for Rushford, Minnesota where she built a life with community, love and friendships over 2 decades. Eventually she settled in Florida, during covid, most recently a resident of Orange Park, Clay County, Florida, and spent her final years there. She had many dogs and cats that she “mothered” over the years and devotedly shared her life with her beloved Pomeranians.
Peggy was predeceased in death by her parents Arlene and Charlie Connelley, and brothers Charles H. “Sonny” Connelley, Jr.; George Thomas “Georgie” Connelley; and Vincent Francis “Vinny” Connelley. She is survived by her oldest son, Vincent DePaul “Paul” Quimby, Jr. and wife Alicia of Maryland; daughter, Candace Arlene Morgan McLellan of Nebraska; son, James Thomas “Jimmy” Morgan and wife Dorothy of Virginia; and son, Michael “Scott” Morgan and wife Vilma of Florida. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The Family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses, caregivers and medical staff, during Peggy’s years of treatment. Those that cared for her at home consistently, during chemo sessions, at the hospital on many visits, and especially her final days at Ascension St. Vincent's Clay. We could not have asked for a better Hospice Team.
Peggy will be interred in Virginia where a memorial service may be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please give to your local animal shelter in memory of Peggy.
