Mary Lancaster Johns

Mary Nell Lancaster Johns, 65, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025 in Middleburg, FL. Mary was born in Brunswick, GA on May 12, 1960 to Sylvester and Jimmie Lancaster and grew up in Georgia and Florida. Mary graduated from Orange Park High School in 1978 and married Wilbert “Willie” Johns Sr on January 7, 1980. Mary was a hard worker and held many jobs throughout her life including banking, waitressing, and working for Big Star grocery store.

She was best known as a house painter and spent many years working for her family’s business, Lancaster Painting. More recently she worked with her brother Jerry at Coastal Health before retiring to spend time with her husband.

Mary enjoyed helping people and assisted in caring for many family members and friends in their final days. Mary loved fishing, gardening, spending time with her family, scratching a lotto ticket, drinking a cold glass of milk, and sharing a juicy piece of gossip.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Willie; daughter, April Thompson; stepchildren: Frank Johns (Brenda), Pam McQuaig, Buddy Johns (Shelly); brother, Jerry Lancaster (Cereina); sister, Sara McLaughlin (Jim); grandchildren: Carolyn Murdaugh, Brittany Reeb, Cameron McQuaig, Savannah Johns, and Shelby Thompson; multiple great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many more family and friends.
