She was born to Harry and Russie Skaggs in September 1929 in Romont, West Virginia. She has 7 siblings, 4 of which are living.
Jean married Elvin (Eb) Delp in May 1950 and moved to Green Cove springs in 1954. Eb preceded her in death in February 2001. They had two sons, Ronnie and Rick, and one daughter, Nan. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved and enjoyed taking care of her husband and children and serving in her community.
Rarely missing a Sunday, Jean enjoyed her membership at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She was active in the Choir service, weekly meetings, and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed her life and loved being around people and volunteered much of her time to the community throughout her life. She served at the Voting Polls for years and was a School Nurse in the Clinic at Clay High School in the ‘70s. Jean worked as a volunteer at the Agricultural Center, Clay County for many years and loved working in the Welcome Center for the annual Clay County Fair.
Jean Delp became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose when she joined the Orange Park/Lake Shore Chapter on December 3, 1975. She was very proud to receive her Academy of Friendship on January 01, 1979 and her College of Regents degree on May 22, 1987.
She has been at Moosehaven for 12 years, becoming a resident in July 2006. She enjoyed working various Sunshine jobs; the Beauty shop for many years, working in the rose garden and helping in the print shop. Jean leaves behind many friends and fond memories of friendships made.
Funeral Service will be held Monday July 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Moosehaven Chapel conducted by Gary Wagner and Officers of Opportunity Chapter. Final rest will be next to her husband at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Middleburg, FL.
She is survived by her son Rick (Jeannene), Daughter Nan, six grand-children and four great-grandchildren.
