Peggy Ann Hillyard, age 85, of Middleburg, Florida, entered Heaven on September 24, 2025. She was born to the late Ruby (Gibbs) and Clyde Waller in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the sixth of seven children, having gone to live with her aunt and uncle at the age of 10. Peggy attended Paxon High School, and after her education, she began her career in retail, first with Stride Rite shoes, where she worked for a decade, and then with J.C. Penny until her retirement.
On March 3rd, 1958, Peggy married Jack Hillyard, with whom she shared sixty-seven wonderful years of marriage. Peggy and Jack built a life based upon a foundation of faith, family, and love. Peggy embodied the roles of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and is remembered as a caring matriarch who loved being a mother to all. She was strong in her Christian faith, and as the wife of a deacon, she was known for her involvement in the church, her love of Sunday School, and her unending support for her husband’s walk with Christ. In her free time, she enjoyed working with her hands, from sewing and crochet to fishing and playing softball. Peggy also loved reading, gardening, and above all, spending precious time with her grandchildren. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents as well as her six siblings. She survived by her daughters; Dede and Mike Lewandowski, Gwen and Johnny Anderson and Brenda and George Dillman, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Her memory will live on fondly in the hearts of those whose lives she touched and those who had the privilege of knowing her.
