Rodney Darius Kennedy

Rodney D. Kennedy was born in Logan County, West Virginia, on September 18, 1946, and went home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2026. At the age of thirteen, he began a lifelong relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He immediately began serving in his local church and developed a gift for teaching and a love for ministry. After graduating from St. Albans High School, he enrolled in Evangel College, where he majored in Education.

He married Joyce Ann Fain of St. Albans, West Virginia, in 1966. After many years of serving in lay ministry, he was ordained in 1972, answered God's call to full-time pastoral ministry, and earned his ministerial degree from Berean College. In 1990, he continued his education and received his Doctor of Ministry from Logos Graduate School in Miami, Florida.

He served as Associate Pastor in the Charleston First Assembly of God Church. He served as Senior Pastor in Clifton Forge, Virginia, for two years before moving to Beckley to serve as Associate Pastor. After two years, he moved to Florida, where he served for over 35 years as Senior Pastor of Seminole Assembly of God Church.

A pastor and evangelist for over four decades, Dr. Kennedy has served on a variety of District and Sectional boards, including the District Presbytery. His ministry has included numerous church revivals, youth camps, children’s crusades, and conventions.

In March of 1995, Joyce, his wife of 29 years, passed away. Six years later, God brought a new helpmate into his life. He remarried in October of 2000. He and his wife, Carla, continue to serve in ministry and fulfill God's call on their lives as they live the life before men.

Dr. Kennedy is the proud father of three children, two granddaughters, and three grandsons.

Since retiring as Senior Pastor from Seminole Assembly of God Church in 2016, Dr. Kennedy has had the privilege of serving as Interim Pastor for several months, along with speaking engagements throughout Florida.

Dr. Kennedy was an anointed preacher and gifted teacher of the Gospel. His presentation of the Word was forthright, without compromise, challenging, and life-applicable. He provoked you to thought and encouraged you to be transformed by the Living Word.

He is survived by his wife, Carla Kennedy; his 3 children and 5 grandchildren: son Timothy Kennedy (Danielle Kennedy), granddaughter Alysa, daughter Amy McNatt (Kenny McNatt), grandson Bryant McNatt (Savanna), granddaughter Emilee McNatt, daughter Angie Hobbs (Josh Hobbs), grandson Caleb Hobbs, grandson Luke Hobbs, brother Nick Kennedy (Michelle Kennedy).

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Seminole Assembly of God located at 10600 113th Street North, Largo, Florida 33778. Funeral service to begin at 11:00 am. A private burial will be held at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
