Russell Joseph Blais, Sr., age 62, went home to his Heavenly Father on December 24, 2023. Russell was born on March 9, 1961 in Attleboro, Massachusetts to Raymond J. and Elta R. Blais. He graduated from Attleboro High School in 1981.
Russell met his high school sweetheart, Jan Turgeon-Blais at Bobby’s Rollerway in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. On December 4, 1981, they were married in Cumberland, Rhode Island where they resided for four years before embarking on their next journey in San Diego, California in 1985, where they resided for fifteen years. Russell’s final destination was in Middleburg, Florida 1999.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond J. Blais and his daughter Stephanie Leigh Blais.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jan M. Turgeon-Blais; son, Russell J. Blais, Jr.; granddaughter, Serenity N. Blais; mother, Elta R. (Blais) Powers; sisters, Cheryl Chalifoux (Joseph), Michelle Reynolds (Edward), Brenda Wright (Thomas), and Angela Gulino (Robert); grandson, Erik A. Blais; several nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.
Russell was a devoted husband, father, papa, son, brother, and friend. He had a kind and gentle heart. Would give the shirt off his back if meant making you happy or keeping you safe. In his spare time a few things Russell loved; playing pool, either attending or watching NASCAR racing, and watching a good game of football (Jaguars or Patriots). He always took pride in maintaining his lawn as well as everyone else’s. He loved the cats Butterscotch and Belle. He is also loved Sasha and Riley (Kim’s dogs).
The family will receive family and friends on Monday January 1st from 6 to 8pm at Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Rd., Middleburg, Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM Tuesday January 2, 2024 at Mary Queen of Heaven, 9401 Staples Mill Drive, Jacksonville Florida, with Father Philip Timlin officiating. Interment will be announced at a later date.
