Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Clarence N. and Elva Pierce; her brother, Donald J. Pierce; her nephew, Donald J. Pierce, Jr. "Skip"; grandson, Greg Bottoms; and loving daughter, Kathi Brown; as well as her ex-husband, George Bruster; and dear friend, Claude Covington. She is survived by one son and two daughters, Joseph Bruster and his wife Barbara, Deborah Darnell, and Kristi Newth and her husband Terry; as well as several grand and great grand children.
