Steven John Preis, 71, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Queens, New York, Steven proudly served in the United States Navy for 23 years and retired with honor. He worked for Verizon for 30 years, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Steven never met a stranger. His warm smile, love of laughter, and generous heart made him a joy to all who knew him. A devoted fan of the New York Giants, he also enjoyed classic comedy, especially The Three Stooges, and spent many hours working on cars. Above all, Steven loved his family deeply. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather to all of his grandchildren. He was married to the love of his life, Dawn Preis, for 48 years. Steven will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home (3601 Old Jennings Rd, Middleburg, FL). The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial with full military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. (Lane 2) at Jacksonville National Cemetery (4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL).
