Being the only girl out of four boys earned Theresa her nickname, Sissy. If you knew her, you loved her. She married her husband, John, in 1984 and she gave birth to their daughter in December of 1989. By June of 1993 she welcomed their baby boy into the world and quit her job at the book factory to stay home and raise her children. Above anything else, Theresa was a mother. She couldn’t hide the joy on her face when she had her babies in her arms. She was patient, generous, and overflowing with love.
She spent most of her life surrounded by family. Every holiday was an excuse to cook a meal, and every Easter was an opportunity to put together a basket of goodies. Theresa spent a few years exploring her wild side, driving her own Harley motorcycle along with her husband. They cruised the towns and spent endless weekends with friends on the open roads. She enjoyed riding horses, spending time with her mom, sitting by a bonfire with her brothers, going shopping and looking for seashells on the beach.
In 2018, Theresa got her ultimate wish when she became Nana. She was unmatched as a grandmother. She had the opportunity to care for her grandson Ethan during the day while her daughter worked and he adored her more than anything. In 2021 she met her second grandson Nathan and in 2025 she got her angel of a granddaughter, Blair Grace. She always told her grandbabies she loved them to the stars and back. She left us too soon, and with broken hearts, but we will continue loving her to the stars and back.
Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, John W. Allen; mother, Virginia Griffis; son, Travis (Tiffany) Allen; daughter, Crystal (Daniel) Durham; step-daughter, Shawn Allen; 2 brothers: Dale (Dianne) Griffis, Herman Griffis and Donald (Kelly) Griffis; 3 grandchildren: Ethan Durham, Nathan Durham and Blair Allen; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, Friday, September 26, 2025 at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
