Retired Lieutenant Victor G. Thorp passed away at the age of 94 on February 18, 2018. Victor was born September 25, 1923 in Riverside Hospital Jacksonville Florida to his parents Earl Thorp and Augusta Pflug. He grew up on the banks of Black Creek during the depression. Shortly after graduating from Clay High School, he joined the Navy on August 22, 1941. He served his country for 26 years achieving the rank of Lieutenant before retiring for the first time, back to Florida. Victor worked some sales and management jobs until joining the Clay County Sheriff’s Department on October 16, 1981 under Sheriff Jennings Murrhee. He held several different positions with the Sheriff’s Department for 19 years before retiring for the last time, to enjoy his time out on Black Creek where he grew up.
Victor has one sister Alice still living and a predeceased brother Gerald.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Carmen, two sons Gordon (Donna) and Brian (Jan), grand children Chelsey, Alex, Chrissy, Andy and great granddaughter Kyllian.

A mass to celebrate of Victor’s life will be held at St Catherine’s Catholic Church located on Kingsley Ave, Orange Park Florida at 11 AM Friday, April 6, 2018. Following the service there will be a reception next door in the Haut Hall.
