William Lawton Purvis (aka Bill, Bud, & W.L.), born July 15, 1935 in Screven, GA, passed away on June 26, 2014 in Dothan, AL at the age of 78. Prior to his recent move to Dothan, he was a resident of Jacksonville, FL for over 23 years. His passing resulted from complications associated with myelodysplastic syndrome. Known to many as Bill or W.L., he was beloved by everyone and was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Jacqueline Purvis; his sisters Okilee Killen & Evanell Turner; his daughter Roselyn Haenchen and grandsons, Kevin & Matthew Reed. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather- Bill is survived by his daughters Rebecca Lake (Ray), Vonnie Ann Reed; his two sons, Peter L. Purvis (Lisa), William L. Purvis, Jr.; grandchildren, Jenny Mosely, Brian Leland, Amanda Lake Stacy, Michael Lake, Sarah Haenchen, Alayna Carlson, Austin Purvis, Alexandra Purvis; and a multitude of great grandchildren. A Funeral service will be held 3 PM, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 with visitation one hour prior to service at HOLLY HILL FUNERAL HOME, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL with Pastor Wes Slough officiating.
