Betty loved to spend time outside gardening and tending her flower bed. She loved traveling, working on puzzles, scrapbooking, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Arlington Baptist Church where she was a senior adult choir member, a part of the quilting ministry, and senior adult ministry among many other ministries over the years.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Edith and Walter Ellerson Montgomery; husband, Robert McKenzie; and sons, Carl Cannon Jr., and Walter Cannon.
Betty was a devoted mother to Carol Seay, Lillian Skinner, and Tina Whittier (her husband, Rick Whittier); stepmother to Thomas McKenzie (his wife, Patricia) and Robert McKenzie Jr. Betty was the adoring grandmother of Cynthia Seay-Vaughn, Dorothy Rudd, Johnathan Skinner, Zachary Whittier, Noah Whittier, Jackson Whittier, and David Whittier; and step-grandmother of Brooke Driggers and Patrick McKenzie.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 pm Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Arlington Baptist Church, 9801 Arlington Church Road in Mint Hill, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm in the Family Life Center.
