Carl graduated from Myers Park in 1981 and drove the school bus while he attended as well. After high school he went on to attend Black World College, where he became a barber. He also worked for the airport, and drove for CATS for 9 years. Then he found a job he loved as a contractor with John’s General Maintenance and worked there for the last 13 years. He was the best handyman ever.
Carl was known and loved by many and there wasn’t a place he could go without someone knowing him whether it was from a day ago or 50 years ago. He was the life of the party, he LOVED his family and LOVED being around family and friends, playing cards, dancing, singing, and burning up the grill. It didn’t matter where you were, if he was there with you, you were going to have a good time and he’d make sure of it.
Carl took great pride in his landscaping, and loved detailing his cars. He would wash his every day. He loved dressing head to toe like he was stepping out for a night on the town, and looking so sharp he could be going to church. It didn’t matter where he was going, he made sure to look good, even if all he ended up doing was sitting at home watching TV. He was known for being loud and outspoken. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for you. He had a rambunctious sense of humor, said he was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan just because his father and brother were Redskins fans.
The neighborhood kids all knew and loved him, and called him Slim or Uncle Slim, because he tried to help guide them in the right direction in life by sharing advice and knowledge based on the experiences and hardships in his own life. Carl was also very respectful and complimentary with the women. His favorite thing to say to them was, “Hello young lady!” He will be truly missed by many, but never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Edward White Sr. He is survived by his lovely mother, Pearline White (Robert McLendon) 2 Aunts, Saddie Cathcart and Addie Grant. He also leaves behind his sweetheart of 20 years, Sherie Albertson, 3 sons, Jamien Grier, Jarrett Jones and Daren Albertson and one daughter, Kelsie Albertson, 2 grandsons, Ajaylien Grier and DJ Albertson, 3 sisters, Gwendolyn White, Tammie White, Cynthia Stafford (Joseph) and 2 brothers, Walter Edward White Jr and Joshua White.
