

Born November 9, 1941, in Badin, North Carolina, Carolyn was a daughter of the late Freeman Gilbert and Glennie Tucker Gilbert. She retired as a Real Estate Appraiser with Mecklenburg County after 20 years of service. She was also a former employee of First Citizens Bank and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Don F. Black.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Williamson; son, Kent Troublefield (Nancy); daughters, Nikki Huddle (James), Tina Flinn (John), and Denise Trotter (Doug); grandson, Thad Troublefield; granddaughter, Jolee Huddle; brother, Shannon Gilbert (Jim Bender); and sister, Joan Morris (Roger).
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road in Mint Hill. The Reverend John Harrill will officiate and Shannon Gilbert and Thad Troublefield will serve as Pallbearers.
