I took square dance lessons from Gene in 2007. He was an excellent teacher but tolerated no fooling around!! For some reason " some of us" confused our left and right hands. To this day I can hear him saying "left , left, left"!!

Gene was a wonderful person. I am so sorry to hear of his death. I just happen to look at the Obituaries. We danced with the Sardis Stars Square Dance Club. He and his late wife Betty kept us dancing right on. They were the "life" of our Club. We could not have better teachers than he and Betty. I can say "watch out HEAVEN, they are famous for getting new Clubs going on. God Bless them , both were beautiful people. I can't dance now with a walker but Betty and Gene will make it work.

Gene and Betty were our good friends. My husband, Dick. gave him his first square dance lesson at our Charlotte home. He became a member of the Circle Eights Square Dance Club and moved on to form his own club. We shared many good times. He will be missed by many.
