Charlotte was born November 9th, 1938 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC to the late Robert James and Annie Brannon Henderson. She was just 17 years old when she met the love of her life, Ronald Baird. Ronald had just returned from Korea when the two met while Charlotte was working part time at Lebo’s. Charlotte and Ronald would marry on November 25th, 1956, just before she graduated from East Mecklenburg High School (Class of 1957). Charlotte and Ronald shared almost 65 wonderful years together.
Charlotte held numerous positions prior to joining Bank of America where she would work for 18 years and retired at the age of 59.
In her free time, Charlotte loved to read and was incredibly skilled at freehand drawing, painting, crochet and embroidery. She was very passionate about her community and loved working with the PTA, as well as singing in the choir.
Charlotte was a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She lived each day with great faith and incredible kindness. She was adored by all who met her, making anyone feel immediately welcome in her presence with her infectious smile and ability to light up a room. Charlotte adored her five grandchildren and loved spending time with each one. She was their beloved “Maw Maw” who attended numerous birthday parties, tennis matches, school events and more. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bobby Henderson, and sister, Harriette Collier. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Baird, son, Wayne Baird (Allison), daughter, Wanda Lanette Baird, son, Randy Baird, daughter, Cindy Baird Thompson (Brian), brother, Wayne L. Henderson, sister-in-law, Nell Henderson, brother-in-law, James Collier, grandchildren, Brooke Baird Johnston (Bill), Taylor Baird Robertson (Angus), Brandon Baird, Arden Rhea Thompson, Liam Baird Thompson and many adored nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brett A. Christoffersen and the Hospice providers at Novant Health Presbyterian Harris Hospice Unit.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227 on Monday, November 29th, 2021. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm, with the service immediately following at 1:00pm. Charlotte will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill, NC.
