

Cora Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Marion Lonon, parents Lewis Franklin and Hattie Lousettie Vaughn Holland, five brothers, Jonas Edgar “Ed,” Daniel Alexander, Lewis Alfred, Albert “Red” and David, two sisters, Carrie B. and Mildred Hicks (Marion).
She is survived by two brothers, Clarence and Luther and two sisters, Naomi Hensley (Jeter) and Estelle Rhinehart (Larry).
She was a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Mint Hill, NC, and the Fred Brown Class, caring for people with her “just because” gifts of food, fun and love. She joined her husband in serving the community by working diligently to organize the Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Department and was honored by them in 2002 with an Honorary Life Membership. She was a dedicated member of the Mint Hill Historical Society and life member of the Mint Hill Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Earp-Williams Post 4059. Cora Lee received the Julia Black Cane as the oldest female member of her church.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, 11501 Bain School Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227 with a visitation held from 12:00pm until 1:00pm in the Rotunda.
A committal service will follow in the mausoleum at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank the following people for their special love shown to her: Lawson McWhirter, Barbara Covington, Christy Davis, Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, Mint Hill Fire and Rescue, and the special caregivers and friends she often made smile and those who called her “Giggles.” She was well loved.
