David Bruce Cochran, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. He was 65 years old.

David Cochran was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin and friend to all who knew him. He loved to spend his time gardening, caring for his beautifully manicured lawn, hunting, fishing or crabbing in his boat, The Bearded Clam, and was always outside. Of all the plants he grew in his garden, he was famous for growing delicious cucumbers and tomatoes.

David was born and raised in South Plainfield, New Jersey, and moved to North Carolina in 2007. In his younger years, he loved to fix up cars, go racecar driving, ski, and bowl. He also drove a motorcycle, played basketball, played baseball and loved animals including the wide variety of animals he had growing up.

As he enters into eternal rest, David leaves behind two sons, David J. Cochran (35), Baldeo Tulsi (34); daughter, Cassondra Cochran (15); wife, Carol Cochran; sister, Susan Pilla; niece, Heidi Pilla; nephew, Jordan Pilla; daughter-in-law, Isabella Alonso; and his grandchildren, Arleth Alonso (14) and Michael Tulsi (5), who he loved to call "Moo Moo."

As he leaves this world, David will forever be remembered in our hearts.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5:00 until 9:00 pm Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. All other services are private.

I was so sorry to hear about Dave's passing. I grew up with Dave and spent many a good day and night with him. I recently was able to have lunch with Dave while I was in Charlotte. We had not seen each other in a long time. From the time we met, to the time we left, we laughed, recounting all the great times we had together and with our friends. It was like old times. We didn't miss a beat. He was a great friend and a great guy. I am honored to have been able to call him my friend. He will be sorely missed. God bless him and his family. We will never forget.

My heart is sad to hear about David. He was my best friend in high school. He also was like a brother . All of our group of friends loved David. I have so many memories of us doing things together. May Gods love be with his whole family.

This is such a shock. I’ll always remember dave as an avid fisherman. We went fishing together and always had a great time. He will be greatly missed. Tight lines my friend. Rest in piece

My Uncle Dave was the king of nicknames. He had a nickname for everyone he loved. I was lucky enough to have two: "The Tomato Kid" and "Smiley" because I loved the tomatoes he grew in his garden, and because I was always smiling as a little girl (see picture). I am going to miss your funny stories, your amazing garden, and your overall knowledge about everything and anything. My favorite memory of you is when we went sledding and we almost crashed into a tree. I didn't trust your ability to steer when I was five, but I definitely would now. You know more about cars, and anything else that requires steering than anyone I know. Rest in the Sweetest Peace Uncle Dave. Gone but never forgotten. <3

I will never forget Dave's witty sense of humor. He had great stories filled with detail that I always enjoyed hearing. He had that ability to always make you laugh. Rest in peace brother in-law.

Words can't describe what you meant to me and what you meant to us. You've taught me so much as a young man growing up and I'll forever be grateful. I can't believe you're not with us right now, this still feels like it's not real. I hope you're at peace now and I know we'll be together one day.

My dad was always there for me whenever I needed him. Every moment with him was the best and very memorable. He taught me many many things. I’ll miss him forever but I’ll never forget him and I promise to make him proud. I know he’s up there with his family and loved ones and I know he’s at ease and peace now.
