

David Eugene “Spike” Hudson, 56, of Charlotte, passed away at home on May 26th, 2014. He was born in Asheville, NC on August 29th, 1957. David graduated from Sun Valley High School and received a Law Enforcement Degree from Central Piedmont Community College. David was an officer with CMPD and retired after 24 years. He was also an Officer Survival instructor at the Police Academy, Trained CMPD’s first drug dog through the U.S. Customs School in Front Royal, VA and was a member of their first Honor Guard. David was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, NRA, and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He enjoyed competitive firearms shooting, teaching firearms lessons and classes, and being a gunsmith. David was a very loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.
David was predeceased by his father William L. Hudson, and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his wife Cathy of 30 years, daughter Mallory Hudson, mother Louise Hudson, sister Darlene Helms and husband Charles Ray, brother Don Hudson and wife Cynthia, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Cotton.

A service to celebrate David’s life will begin at 2:00p.m. Honors will be provided by The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Honor Guard Unit. Burial will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens Cemetery with
