I had the pleasure of working with David at CMPD. He was a solid man with a kind disposition. As a new school resource officer, David taught me how to engage the job, yet at the same time to show compassion.

Master Sergeant David A. Mitchell was the First Sergeant/Enlisted Bandleader of the 108th Division Army Reserve Band for many years. Dave worked tirelessly for the good of the unit and the soldiers under his guidance. As Bandmaster of this organization, I could always count on Dave to do his best as a soldier or musical performer. My prayers are with his family.

David Mitchell was my training officer in 1977. He taught me that many of the people we come in contact with were not bad people, but rather people experiencing difficult circumstances in life. He taught me to be kind to everyone, whether they were a bank president or homeless. His advice spoke of his kindness, well suited for a career as a police officer. He was one of the best! Thank you, David Mitchell! Rest in Peace, my friend.

Dear Mitchell Family,

I served with David as a police officer, working together with him when I graduated from the academy. He also helped train me. He was a rock for me in those first months of my CPD career. Friendly, helpful, and a solid Christian man. We shared our love of the Lord and music. He now sits at that banquet table in Heaven with the Lord for all eternity.

I worked with Dave at Albemarle Road Middle School when he was the Resource Officer.
He was such a kind hearted man with the sweetest smile.
Working with Middle School Age kids is not the easiest thing in the world, but he had the patience of Job and a sweet calmness about him.
My condolences to the Mitchell Family. What a great loss.
Thankful he’s well and having a glorious time in heaven.

Much Sympathy,

Becky Price
