Donny had the personality and charm to love and care for his family – his girls, whom were his life. Marrying his childhood sweetheart, Kelly, and starting on the journey, very early, to be a Husband and a Father, he started his profession in the restaurant business. Not only was this a profession, it was a life passion. Creating “things” seemed to come very easily to him from gardening to preparing wonderful new recipes. He had three beautiful daughters Britney, Amber and Chloe. Life experiences shaped him and he seemed to glide so easily through most every challenge, but that peace and satisfaction of knowing his Savior eluded him. Gregarious in nature he wanted all life had to offer and embraced it with a survivor intelligence; so very smart, always eager to learn how to do new things, and excited about his life.
With a heart firmly planted at the beach, there was nothing he enjoyed more. The coast was like a magnet that drew him, so with every opportunity the family was Sunset Beach bound with the girls by his side. He loved his girls! Besides his own beautiful daughters, his Mom, Norma, raised Donny, Jen, and Taylor as a single mother, this man was constantly surrounded by women who loved him.
In this gregarious nature he loved all kinds of music, all types of food, he never met a stranger and moved through his life always searching for a new experience. Sometimes these experiences were not good ones and he always had the ability to bounce back. The search for that “one” thing that would bring ultimate joy and peace eluded him.
Finding his faith in Jesus and a Father that would never leave him, was as he found, the real peace and satisfaction in his life. It lead him and made him want to find more of Jesus. He basked in the change the Father made in his life and he renewed his life by re dedication and baptism. To be the man God wanted him to be was the desire of his heart., but by the choice of not pulling people around him that wanted the same for him, he went searching for things most familiar. This life, so addicted to wanting more and more began to take away… rather than adding anything to it, many times he stumbled and fell. Each time the Lord renewed him with new strength and new beginnings.
Over the past few years he spent time with his friend and partner Angie. Just before his death we celebrated his 44th birthday. The excitement of a new grand baby and loving Caroline were tremendous joys in his life....and we talked about him being such a great Granddad and Father to his girls especially Chloe who spent so much time with him. His Father had blessed his life.
Tragically on Friday, February 26, 2016,that search for peace ended and his heavenly Father called him home. We love and miss you and look forward to the day we are together again.
Isaiah 40:28-31 "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint."
