Doris Martin Worrie, aka Ann Connors, died on July 12, 2018 at Presbyterian Hospital Matthews in the hospice unit after a long illness. Doris was born in Richmond Virginia to Mary Elizabeth Moon Martin and Grover Cleveland Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Audrey. She is survived by her son, Gerald Condrey of Mint Hill, N.C.
A celebration of her life will be held at Blair Road United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 22nd at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond on Saturday, July 28th at 1:00 p.m. McEwen Funeral Service is handling the arrangements in N.C. and Woody’s Funeral Service in Va.
Doris attended Smithdeal Massey Business College in Richmond and worked as a court reporter before moving to North Carolina to teach dance. She co-owned a franchise for Fred Astaire Dance Co. and operated several studios. “Miss C” as her staff, students, and close friends lovingly referred to her, devoted over 60 years to the field of dance. It was her life long passion. She leaves behind many well-taught students who are still benefitting from her teaching.
Doris also devoted many hours to her church. She headed up the acolyte program and taught Sunday school among other things. She also volunteered her time raising money for Easter Seals. Doris will be remembered for her kindness, patience, and wonderful sense of humor.
