She was a member of the Eastern Star, Association of Retarded Citizens, and the Red Hat Club.
Edith is survived by her children; Jeanne McWhirter, Cheryl Kellogg (Mike), and Cindy Larsen; brother; Kenneth Williams; grandchildren, Cortney Furr, Scott Furr, and Elizabeth Kellogg. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Edd McWhirter, Edith was preceded in death by her son, Eddie McWhirter Jr.
A visitation with the family will be held from 1:00pm until 2:00pm, January 12, 2017, at Dulin's Grove Advent Christian Church, 11200 Arlington Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
A funeral service will immediately follow in the sanctuary at 2:00pm.
