Eleanor “Ellie” May Blanton, 87, passed away peacefully at home in Matthews, NC on December 12, 2021. Ellie was born in Saranac Lake, New York. She met and married, Billy R. Blanton in California. Together they moved to Arlington, TX where they lived until his death. She moved to North Carolina to live with her son and his family.
Ellie loved life and enjoyed being with family and friends. However, Ellie’s first love is Jesus Christ, her Savior. Ellie worshipped and worked in all churches she attended. Ellie fought many battles with illness over the years; however, this battle was won by her Lord, when He took her home to be with Him.
Ellie is survived by her children: Christine (Dwayne) Stonerook, Nathan (Deanna) Blanton; David (Penny) Blanton, and a sister, Patty Grimes. Granny was treasured by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Aunt Ellie was loved by nieces and nephews. Ellie was blessed by her cousins and dearest friends. Ellie was preceded in death by her husband, Billy R. Blanton; two daughters, Melody Blanton and Deborah Hembree; her parents, Raymond S. Wamsganz and Mildred E. Lafave; and a sister, Betty Reisbig.
The family will have a private celebration of life in Matthews, NC and a private interment at Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington, TX.
The family requests for donations to be made Hospice and Palliative Care – Charlotte Region or to the American Diabetes Association.
