

Emily Hill Bauermeister, 91, of Charlotte, passed away on October 28, 2012. Born on December 15, 1920 in rural Georgia, she was the daughter of Charles and Lillie Hill. Emily earned her Nursing degree and excelled in her career as a nurse. She eventually retired from Mercy Hospital after 17 years of service. Emily was a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. In 2009, she was the recipient of the Honorary Lifetime Membership Award. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1949 and assisted in establishing the chapters in Cornelius and Mint Hill. In 2009, she was honored with a 60 year pin. Emily’s hobbies included gardening, traveling, crafts, watercolor painting and fishing. Her favorite past time was spending time with her family.
Emily was preceded in death by her husbands; Vernon Alley and William James Stevens, Herman Bauermeister, a brother; Lynn Hill and a grandson; Christopher Joseph Alley.
She is survived by her children; Theodore Francis Alley, Joseph Knox Alley (Kim) and Eleanor O’Delle Stevens Woodling (Marc), grandchildren; Bailey, Brenna and Zachary Woodling, sister in law; Connie Hill and niece, Susan Hill.
A memorial service will follow at 3:00pm at the Carriage Club of Charlotte 5800 Old Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28226.
