IN THE CARE OF
McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel
Ewell "Clarke" Drum, 67, of Matthews, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Clarke was born October 16, 1954 in Sumter, SC.
Clarke attended school at Mayewood School in Sumter and graduated from Salem Academy in New Zion, SC. Clarke was employed for over 40 years as a medical equipment instrument technician for companies such as Adler & Steris Instrument. The job required a steady hand and great amount of skill. Clarke was very passionate about his work and he loved the places that his work took him.
Clarke also loved to travel on his own and looked forward to retirement so he could devote more time to travel. If you needed advise about a trip or a destination, chances are Clarke had been there and knew a good hotel or restaurant. Clarke enjoyed his trips to various beaches but his favorite place was the mountains of NC. He spent many weekends relaxing in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountain areas.
Clarke enjoyed being around and meeting new people. He has great friends both long time and new. He was the type person that if he saw a need, he was the one that would step up and see the need was met. Clarke came to know his place on this earth and was at peace at the end.
Clarke was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Geraldine Drum.
He is survived by his brothers, Cline Drum (Diane) and Chris Drum; and his favorite cousin, Pam Lowe of Mint Hill, NC.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
