Reid worked for the city of Charlotte as an electrician at Charlotte Douglas Airport. He was a member of Mint Hill Baptist Church, and had a passion for fishing, muscle cars, the beach and most importantly, his family.
Reid is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sheila Jones Hayes; daughter Lauren Hayes Norkett (Brandon); Son, Dustin Reid Hayes; brother James Grey; brother in law, Monty Jones; grandchildren, Skyler Hayes, Rylee Norkett, and Bentley Hayes.
He is also survived by many close friends and family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, at Mint Hill Baptist Church, 7835 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd, Mint Hill, NC, with Pastor Lee Proctor officiating.
A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Humane Society or to Mint Hill Baptist Church.
