If you ever made the acquaintance of Glenda McKenzie then you were blessed. I had the honor of working by her side every day of her service to children and families in Mecklenburg County for close to twenty five years. The day we met I knew I had found a life long friend and kindred spirit.
Every year we sat together for her annual performance evaluation and I quickly ran out of superlatives to describe her work. Before ipads, laptops, and desk top computers Glenda played the selectric typewriter keyboard like a Steinway piano. Early on we had no smartphones, no bag phones nor Dictaphone or pagers. Fortunately, Glenda had such amazing shorthand skills that she often finished my letter before I did.
Last year on this day many of us got to see Glenda for the last time at our St. Patrick's Day party. She and Kathy visited, reminisced and laughed with many of us who reveled in our friendship. I will miss her smile, wit, humor , compassion and infectious laughter. Rest in peace dear friend .

She was a wonderful friend who would help you anyway she could. We got together on office work breaks, lunches, summer outings and Christmas at her house. We will miss her laugh and her chocolate and peanut butter fudge. Most of all her encouragement and being your friend.

Mom, I will miss you for the rest of my life. I love you forever. You sacrificed everything to give me a good life. I can't thank you enough. I am so blessed to have had the best and most loving mother in the world. I cannot thank God enough for blessing me with having you as my mother.

Sweet, Glenda...what can I say? You were my best friend. We always had so much fun on our car adventures! Who am I going to sing '60s songs with and groove with in the car. Who am I going to play Sorry with. Who will I snort with from laughing so hard. No one else would enjoy our trips from the doctor's office and getting lost on the way to lunch...we never knew where we'd end up when we left home! You were my partner in crime, my best friend, and the best mother in law anyone could have. You will always be my "Glenda the Good Witch". I love you and miss you terribly, but I know you have a new body now, a perfect body, and you are with your parents and my precious Justin. I love you, Glenda . Good-bye for now, I will see you in Heaven, so save me a good seat at that amazing dinner table!

Glenda was a special friend whom we loved and admired. She shared her many talents in beautiful ways. We talked about musician’s hearts, loving God’s creatures, and we laughed. She loved fiercely. She was well loved and already missed. It was pure joy to be her friend. We know heaven rejoices at her arrival. Adair and Michael, our deepest condolences in the loss of your adoring Mom.
