Ival Gene Morrison

Gene Morrison, 79, of Charlotte, NC, went home to be with his Lord on January 18, 2016. Upon his death, Gene joined his late parents, Pearlie and Eskie Morrison; sisters, Eileen Hatten and Donna (Lindsay) Frazier; brother, Harry Morrison; and a special nephew, Ryan McCall.

A beloved husband , father and grandfather, Gene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maxine; son, Craig (Annette) Morrison; and daughter, Kim Justice; grandchildren, Brad Morrison, Cameron Justice and Mattie Morrison; sister, Doris (Frank) Napier; brothers, Verlin (Alice) Morrison and Ed (Sherry) Morrison; sister-in-law, Dorcas Morrison; and many nieces and nephews.

Gene was born September 21, 1936 in Stiltner, WV. He graduated from Wayne High School and was a member of Prince of Peace Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as Trustee for over 20 years. He was a proud US Army Veteran.

He was loved by everyone he met, always putting others before himself. He was dedicated to caring for his wife, his family and friends.

Gene loved Bluegrass music and met many great friends in the Hemby Bridge community.

A service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2016, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with Pastor Willie May officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill, NC.
