

He was born September 14, 1927 to the late James Marvin Broadwell and Marie Seigler Broadwell.
Jack was a native Charlottean and a 1945 graduate of Central High School. He proudly attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. Jack married Martha Gheesling on May 15, 1960 and they were married for 57 years.
Mr. Broadwell retired from US textiles. He was an avid runner and could often be seen running down Shamrock Drive and the surrounding area. Jack held several offices in the CYAC and positively impacted many young men through his years of coaching baseball and basketball.
Jack was very involved with his church. He was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and an elder. He received the award of Elder Emeritus at Newell Presbyterian Church in June of 2017.
Mr. Broadwell is survived by his sons, Barry Broadwell, Robert Broadwell (Bonnie); daughter, Angela Watts (Brad); grandchildren, Kyle, Shelby and Allison Watts, Robbie Broadwell, and Sabrina Cash (Isaac); great granddaughter, Kinsley Cash; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, James “Jimmy” Monroe Broadwell, Jr. and infant son, Mark Edward Broadwell; sisters, Kathleen B. Campbell, Faye B. Epting, Dorothy B. Edwards, Marvin B. Fisher and Dessie B. Gilbert.
A visitation will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at McEwen Funeral Service- Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
A funeral celebrating the life of Mr. and Mrs. Broadwell will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 11:00am at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, 11501 Bain School Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
