A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
Our loving and devoted Mother, Wife, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend Jean Troutman Clontz, born December 23, 1938, passed away August 16, 2022 at the age of 83 after a battle with leukemia. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones at her passing and is now in the hands of the Lord. Jean, born in Midland NC, she grew up on the Troutman family dairy farm on Wallace Road along with her eight older siblings (6 brothers and 2 sisters). She attended Bethel High School in Midland and was in the Class of 1957. Jean lived in Mint Hill, NC since 1964, where she raised her family with her husband Garry. She spent many years working at PCA in Matthews NC, then at RoundAbout, a local community shop in Mint Hill on Fairview Rd. She was an avid gardener and loved cultivating and harvesting her legendary fruits and vegetables each year to share with the local Mint Hill community. In addition to her gardening, Jean was a fabulous cook, even at 16 years old in 1954, she was the 4H Cabarrus County champion in for both Canning and Freezing fruits and vegetables. She had a magnetic personality, was full of energy and had a loving heart centered on helping, supporting and loving her family, friends and even strangers in need. The youngest of nine children, Jean was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Samuel Troutman, her mother, Ida Susan Stancil Troutman, her siblings Marvin Lewis Troutman, Howard Glenn Troutman, Carl Collins Troutman, Leonard Earl Troutman, Harold Eugene Troutman, Annie Marie Troutman, her son Garry Dale Clontz, and her granddaughter Amy Lynn Clontz (Jan Davis). Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her husband, James Garry Clontz, her daughter Lisa Jan Clontz of Mint Hill, NC, her granddaughter Crystal Clontz Davis (Darren) and great granddaughters Kira and Kenley Davis of Waxhaw, NC and granddaughter Amber Clontz, of Columbia, SC, daughter-in-law Kathy Clontz of Indian Trail, NC and siblings Mary Louise Troutman Smith, of Albuquerque, NM and William Franklin Troutman, of Midland, NC, along with many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. All are welcome to attend Jean’s Visitation and Life Celebration service, which will both be held on Sunday, August 28th at starting at 3pm at Arlington Baptist Church Chapel, at 9801 Arlington Church Rd, Charlotte, NC 28227 (Mint Hill) – Contact for the Church office - 704-545-4589.
