Jessica Jeanette Cornelius

Born December 26, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, Jessica was a daughter of the late Piotr and Marja Kszazkiewicz Stempin. A daughter of Polish immigrants, Jessica enjoyed a lifelong career as a Registered Nurse. She found much enjoyment in cooking, sewing and needlework. Well into her 80’s, she could be found hard at work in her yard planting flowers and telling them to grow pretty and strong!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Arnold Cornelius, son, Timothy Arnold Cornelius, two sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia Ann “Patti” Hodge and her husband, Steve, of Mint Hill; two special grandsons, Todd and Thomas Cornelius of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews in Michigan, who affectionately referred to her as “Ciocia Jess.”

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with her family from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road in Charlotte. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Patrick Hoare, celebrant. Interment will be in Sharon Memorial Park.
