Julia was born in Charlotte on December 23, 1923 to the late Sam and Agnes Poston Honeycutt.
She and her brothers, Jim and Bob Honeycutt (both deceased), grew up on 35th Street in North Charlotte. She was preceded in death by Ralph Threatt, her husband of 62 years. They were members of Oakhurst Baptist Church where Julia was church secretary and headed the Wednesday Night Kitchen Crew. She also worked as a cashier at Oakhurst and McClintock school cafeterias. Julia and Ralph attended almost every game their son Bobby played. Family and friends accompanied them on vacations to see Bobby and Sarah in Florida. Julia was proud of her family’s service to the Charlotte Fire Department. In 1919 her father Sam Honeycutt became a fireman, followed by her brothers Jim and Bob Honeycutt, and nephews Brian, Robbie and Jeff Honeycutt.
Julia was also preceded by Ralph’s parents, A.R. Threatt and Mae Yarborough Threatt and by Ralph’s sister Faye Threatt Yates and her husband Eldridge Yates.
Julia is survived by her son and daughter in law, Bobby Threatt and Sarah Dorton Threatt of Matthews. “Aunt Julia” was loved by nieces Joyce Honeycutt Thompson, Siby Honeycutt Faris, Cindy Honeycutt Hands, Donna Yates Mitchell and Nancy Yates, and by nephews Danny, Joe, Robbie, Jeff and Brian Honeycutt and also by her great nieces and nephews.
