

A native Charlottean, Mrs. Agner was born the 4th of April 1932, to the late Bennie and Pearl Turner Young. She attending Charlotte public schools and graduated from Central High School in 1950. She also attended Kings Business College.
Mrs. Agner was employed by Motors Insurance Corporation, a Division of GM, retiring with 30 years of service. Prior to retirement, she and her family operated the Village Corner Antiques in Waxhaw, which they continued to operate after her retirement. Mrs. Agner was a devoted member of Blair Road United Methodist Church, the Hannon Sunday School Class, and the Friendship Circle of United Methodist Women. In her early years, she served as pianist and organist at several churches.
Mrs. Agner enjoyed various crafts, all needlework and cooking.
After closing the antique shop, Mrs. Agner and her husband became active volunteers with the American Red Cross Disaster Services, helping those in need on over 60 National Disasters. They also assisted locally on disasters. Mrs. Agner retired from her service with the Red Cross when her health prevented her from strenuous work.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Agner was preceded in death by her brother, Bev Young; sister-in-law, Mary Young; and granddaughter, Randal Lewis.
Affectionately known as, “Granny,” Mrs. Agner was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Mrs. Agner is survived by her husband of 58 years, Fred C. Agner; her son, Ben Agner; her daughter, Marla Agner (Andy Mickler); her grandchildren, Rebecca Lewis, Josh Agner, Melanie Gildharry, Casey Agner, Jon Lewis, Anna Lewis and Haydn Lewis; and her great granddaughters, Maggie Lewis, Harmony Watson, Bella Watson, Scarlett Watson, Evelyn Lewis and Stella Lewis.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from ten until eleven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 11th of June 2016, at Blair Road United Methodist Church, 9135 Blair Road in Mint Hill. The funeral service will commence at eleven o’clock. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
