They had been married 51 years at the time of his heavenly home going on May 19, 2003. Margaret a/k/a “Maw Maw” is survived by her two devoted children, Rhett H. Blair (Helen Katy) of Mint Hill, NC and Paula A. Blair (Bill), of Huntersville, NC. Margaret is also survived by her grandchildren: Shelley Porter, Heather Wilson (Mark), Ashley Nelson (Jason), Jeremy Stapleton (Savannah), Nikki Stapleton, Nicole Payne and Wes Autry. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Hailee, Kelsee, Rylie, Addisyn, Judah, Angel, Sky, Levi, Lainey, Caroline, Jase, Georgia and Aidan, plus three great-great grandchildren: Braxtyn, Brody, Grayson.
Margaret previously worked at Standard Trucking as a file clerk and was a long time member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC. She was loved and remembered by so many friends and family and had a contagious laugh. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grands. Her famous iconic photos are of Margaret with her phone to her ear, chatting with friends. Margaret was the youngest of 5 children, predeceased by Homer, Ray, John and Bettie. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and special dear friends who were like her own that she adored keeping up with via phone calls and yearly reunions. We are so grateful for the important place you held in her heart! Truth be told, Margaret never knew a stranger! Her spiritual gift was hospitality, making people feel special, accepted and loved. Oh how she modeled Christ’s love for others! She’d strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere and her friendliness was unmistakable, always cheerfully received.
A casual and relaxed gathering of family and friends will be held this Sunday, October 4th, 2020 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. A private family graveside service will be planned in the next several weeks. In lieu of flowers, we trust Margaret would be ever so grateful for donations to St. Thomas Lutheran at 4013 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
