Mathias P. Rick "Matty"

Matty passed away April 21, 2017, at his home. He was 84 years old.

Matty was born in NYC but migrated to the small town of Warwick, NY, where he spent his childhood and adolescent years. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. Upon discharge from the military he embarked on a career in finance at IBM and retired after 37 years of service.

Matty is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anne; two sons, Mathias “Matt” (Theresa) and Joseph (Kim); one daughter, Donna (John); and one son, James, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Matty was a quiet unassuming man who was loved by his family and held in high esteem by all he came in contact with. He will be sorely missed by all.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, the 27th of April 2017 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28227, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am.
