Millie graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1954 and worked for Southern Bell before becoming a deputy clerk for the Federal Court System in Charlotte. During her 30 year tenure with the court, she was involved in several significant cases and served as the courtroom deputy to the late Honorable James B. McMillian.
A member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte, Millie enjoyed participating in many of the senior ministry opportunities including trips and the senior choir.
She was an avid Panther fan and season ticket holder. Millie loved the ocean and enjoyed spending time with family at her home at Sunset Beach. Earlier in her life, she enjoyed travelling across the country and abroad.
As a mother, Millie taught her children the value of hard work, financial responsibility and integrity. She also shared her strong faith and her love of the Lord.
Millie is survived by her three children, Shelley James (Jay) Leazer III (Sherri), Cyndy Leazer Gross (Bob) and Karl Leazer. She is also survived by granddaughter Shelley Leazer. Also surviving are sister Carole Little; brothers Bill Little (Cathey) and Richard Little and sister-in-law Dell Little.
In addition to her parents, Millie was pre-deceased by her first husband Shelley James Leazer Jr. in 1983 and by Johnny Richardson in 1994 whom she married in 1986. She is also pre-deceased by brothers Jake Little and Charlie Little and sisters-in-law Pat Little, Phyllis Leazer Cook and Juanita Leazer.
The family wishes to thank the first responders who were patient and kind to their mother over the past few months.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, November 23, 11:00 am at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Millie’s name to the Baptist Children’s Home of NC, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361.
