Mistie was born in Florida and spent the majority of her life in North Carolina. In 1981, at the café counter in Stanley’s Drug Store, the bright, handsome, and loyal Joseph Lentz Brown, III walked into her life. The following year, already best friends, they became husband and wife. During their 35 years of marriage, they grew together building a life and home - through thick and thin - always seeing the best in each other. Hand in hand until the last moment, he adored her and she him. To all who know them, they will forever be one - Mistie and Joey.
The precious daughter of Joyce Charbonneau Hawkins and John “Archie” Archambault, Mistie won the hearts and respect of her mother-in-love, Betty Nixon, and step-parents, Gary “Cotton” Hawkins and Lynn Archambault. Mistie was blessed with two brothers, John, Jr. and Bobby Archambault and their wives, Jennifer and Cindy. Those blessings were multiplied by siblings of heart and marriage, Terry and Bill DeVore and John Brown, nephews, Coleman and Bill DeVore, and nieces, Jourdan Archambault and Kristina Parra; all will remain safely tucked away in Mistie’s heart. And Mistie and Joey’s most beloved “little boy,” Simon, their “rescue” cat that brought so much joy and love into their lives.
Mistie was devoted to her mother throughout her life and through Joyce’s years of illness where Mistie showered her with care and tenderness. They’re now again reunited and walking arm-in-arm together in Heaven.
Mistie filled a treasure trove of friends too numerous to count. Being a hair stylist by trade and counselor by gift, she knew way too much information about most of us! She is loved for her quick sense of humor, her thought provoking honesty, her love of skydiving, her Mustang driving spirit, her scissor hand talent...and a thousand other reasons.
We praise God for gifting us with Mistie and mercifully receiving her home to Heaven. We are forever grateful to Joey for being her earthly North Star, her anchor in the storm and for unselfishly sharing her with all of us. Her space is unfillable - our loss, unfathomable.
