Philip Douglas Young, 65, of Charlotte, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 at CMC Hospital. He was born on October 28, 1947 in Salisbury, NC to the late Donald and Lorene Young. Philip served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. For 22 years, Philip devoted his life to caring for families at McEwen Funeral Service and Sharon Memorial Park Crematory. He served on the NC Crematory Authority Board.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vernelle, his children; Cassandra Stilwell, Donna (Mark) Ellington and Jeffrey Williams; and grandchildren; Tori and Jac Stilwell and Joshua Ellington.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Philip’s life from 1:00 to 3:00pm on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227.
