Mr. Matthews was born on August 1, 1942 in Elberton, GA to Crawford and Blanche Matthews.
Wayne was a Salesman with Southern Wholesale Distributors for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gail Matthews; two sons, Rick (Jennie) Matthews and Jeff (Melissa) Matthews; four grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Nia and Olivia Matthews.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his son, Stephen Lewis Matthews.
A funeral service will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 15th of January, 2016 at Arlington Baptist Church with a visitation held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Steve Gandy will be officiating. Interment to follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
