Roberta Jean “Bobbie” Waters has completed her journey and has been reunited with her husband Heap, now together in the presence of God. Bobbie passed Sunday, July 25th in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Mint Hill, NC at the age of 86. Her journey started April 12, 1935, in Queens NY, the second daughter of the Rev. Earl Raymond and Kathryn Baublitz. Upon graduating Northwestern HS in Hyattsville, MD she attended the University of Maryland. While attending college, she was active in the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and eventually met her soon to be husband, Jean Waters.
A woman of many skills, Bobbie excelled artistically, athletically, and in the kitchen. Evidence of those talents are the many oil paintings that adorn the homes of her children as well as the club championship trophies in mixed doubles tennis. Even through her illness last fall, she ardently watched college football while rooting on her Yellow Jackets!
Bobbie enjoyed sports, the outdoors, animals, and travelling with her friends. A loving mother of three, her greatest love was for her family. She is survived be her sister, Lucene Winters; her beloved nieces and nephews; her daughter and son in law, Krista and Harvey Gong; her son and daughter in law, Dean and Leigh Ann Waters; her son, Steven Waters; and her dearly loved grandchildren, Craig Waters, Ray Waters, and Natalie Waters.
A final farewell to our beloved Grandma Bobbie will be held at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 3321 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA, on September 18th at 1PM. Fr. Jim Said will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, an offering for the church missions is appreciated.
Our family offers their sincere appreciation to Novant Health Hospice Team and Annasue for their amazing love, compassion and care extended to “Ms. Bobbie.”
God Bless Grandma Bobbie!
